Several dogs dead after mobile home fire in Maury County, Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Firefighters braved extreme heat Sunday afternoon as they battled a fire in Maury County that destroyed a home and killed several pets.

According to the Maury County Fire Department, multiple units responded to a report of a house fire on Mack Benderman Road just before 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 16.

When emergency services arrived on the scene, they said they found “a double-wide mobile home that was approximately 90 percent damaged and partially collapsed.”

Maury County Sheriff’s Office officials arrived shortly after the first firefighters and reported that elderly people lived in the home, fire officials said.

First responders said they immediately conducted a “ventilate, enter, search” operation through the window of the only bedroom that was not on fire. They reportedly found a dog on the bed and retrieved it through the window, but the owners were not home at the time of the fire.

Officials said emergency crews worked in extreme heat to completely extinguish the fire, which resulted in the deaths of several dogs. Photos posted on social media show the extent of the damage caused by the fire:
