Officials adopt three dogs rescued during the animal cruelty investigation in Volusia

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla – Three of the dogs rescued as part of an animal cruelty investigation in Volusia County this week have been adopted by officials, according to a news release.

On Monday, officers responded to a home on East Beresford Avenue after a woman who came to the home to clean the pool reported a strong odor coming from the home and emaciated dogs barking inside.

When officers entered the home, they found malnourished animals living in filthy conditions, as well as a young basset hound, two cats, three geckos and two birds found dead.
