Battery Power TV: Reynaldo Lopez among MLB’s best as Atlanta Braves continue to rely on pitching

As they approach the halfway point of the season, the Atlanta Braves continue their search for answers at the plate.

On the mound, however, it’s a different story.

With veterans Max Fried and Chris Sale taking over for the injured Spencer Strider, the most surprising and welcome addition to the rotation continues to prove his worth. Reynaldo Lopez has moved from reliever to starter, has the best ERA in MLB and continues to make quality starts. The Braves are also using some of their top prospects to take pressure off their veteran starters. Will this ultimately help keep all those guns fresh?

Meanwhile, the offense’s struggles are well-documented and have yet to really be fixed. It seems like it’s still a matter of time for many of Atlanta’s talented hitters to turn things around, but it’s been a long waiting game. Could the Braves make a splash at the trade deadline? White Sox starting outfielder Luis Robert is a notable name in the rumor mill and would be an intriguing possibility for a club looking for more firepower.

Grant McAuley and Kris Willis discuss it all and preview the home game against the Rays and Tigers on this edition of BPTV.
