Investigation shows that allegations against Russell Brand were not “adequately handled”

According to an investigation, allegations about Russell Brand’s conduct while working at Channel 4 were “not adequately addressed”.

Brand, 49, found himself at the centre of a media storm last year when historic allegations of sexual assault were made in a Channel 4 documentary.

This included predatory behavior while working on several of the station’s programs, including Big brother’s big mouth, Kings of Comedy And Big Brother’s celebrity kidnapping.

An investigation launched by Banijay UK revealed that various unofficial concerns had been raised about the star’s behaviour in the shows broadcast between 2004 and 2008.

Karen Baxter, head of investigations at law firm Lewis Silkin LLP, said: “No formal complaints were made against Brand during the broadcasts.

“However, there were concerns about Brand’s conduct which were discussed informally with senior staff, particularly in relation to his request to the runners to obtain telephone numbers of spectators and female crew members who felt uncomfortable or intimidated by his behaviour whilst working in Bristol in 2004/2005.

“These concerns were not properly escalated or adequately addressed.”
