There’s a chance Atlanta could host an important U.S. match at the 2026 World Cup

Atlanta’s first match in the round of 16 will pit the winner of Group L against the third-place team from Group E, H, I, J or K.

The city’s Round of 16 matchup will feature the winner of Game 86, which pits the winner of Group J against the second-place team in Group H, the second-place team in Group D, which includes the United States, to the second team of group H.

The city semi-final match will pit the winner of Match 99 against the winner of Match 100.

The tournament will bring together 48 teams for the first time and will be hosted by three countries for the first time – the United States, Canada and Mexico. Sixteen cities will host matches.

FIFA published the match schedule for the 2026 World Cup on Wednesday.
