CMPD: Suspect arrested after leading police on chase through Charlotte

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, a person was arrested after leading police on a chase on Interstate 77 before crashing into another car and attempting to flee.

On Friday around 12:20 p.m., officers attempted to stop a stolen vehicle in the area of ​​Reames Road in north Charlotte.

The driver refused to stop, sped away and led a chase that took place mostly on I-77, officials said.

The suspect rammed another person’s car near southbound I-77 at Morehead Street, causing only property damage. Police said the suspect continued to drive away at a high rate of speed, evading officers.

The pursuit reportedly ended around 12:40 p.m. when the suspect was arrested after jumping out of his vehicle and running away near the corner of Reid Avenue and Caronia Street in west Charlotte.
