50-year-old man dies after collision with power pole and signs on Atlantic Boulevard – Action News Jax

JACKSONVILLE, Florida – A 50-year-old man has died after a car crash on Atlantic Boulevard. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, this is the 70th traffic fatality in Duval County this year.

Investigators said his SUV left the road and hit the sidewalk, then struck a street sign, a utility pole and finally the sign for Captain D’s restaurant.

He was found unconscious.

Jacksonville Fire Department attempted life-saving measures, but the driver was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after their arrival.

The victim’s SUV was the only car involved in the accident.

According to Jacksonville Fire Rescue, the driver may have had a medical emergency. Investigators will rely on the coroner’s report.
