Rain showers and strong storms are expected today

Bring the umbrella! It’s going to be a wet day in the Midwest, as showers and thunderstorms will be around throughout the day. While most of the rain won’t be heavy, there is a slight chance of rain for areas west of Nashville this afternoon and evening.

Any storms could bring heavy rains that could lead to localized flooding and damaging wind gusts. The threat of tornadoes is extremely low today, but still pay attention to the weather if you plan to be outdoors today.

The rain will ensure that temperatures remain significantly lower than normal at just over 20 degrees. In some areas, temperatures will only reach just over 20 degrees today.

Showers will continue through Sunday morning before clearing up in the afternoon. Highs will be slightly warmer at around 30 degrees and lows around 18 degrees.

A few showers are expected again on Monday, but it will be similar to Sunday, with many dry periods during the day. It will also be a little warmer, with temperatures over 30 degrees.

The chance of rain increases for Tuesday and Wednesday. Expect scattered showers throughout the day and a few isolated thunderstorms as well. The rain will continue into Thursday morning before finally clearing out just in time for the weekend.
