Two arrested for trespassing and possible theft near Ritzville

RITZVILLE – Two people were arrested Monday in connection with a charge of trespassing and subsequent theft in the 1500 block of E. Rosenoff Road, near Ritzville Memorial Cemetery.

Timothy A. Johnson, 46, of Spokane, was arrested for second-degree trespassing and faces a felony theft charge pending the results of a search of his vehicle.

Roslyn Revelation Acar, 46, of Moses Lake was also arrested and charged with second-degree trespassing, making false or misleading statements to police and several outstanding Benton County warrants, including possession of a stolen vehicle, second-degree identity theft, second-degree burglary and failure to appear at a drug court hearing. Additional charges could be filed against Acar after a search warrant is executed on the vehicle she was in and more information is gathered on a bank card that did not belong to her but was in her possession, according to a statement from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

ACSO officers had contacted the couple in a gray Honda Civic after receiving a report that the couple was trespassing. According to the statement, Johnson was seen returning to the vehicle from a nearby sprayer when officers arrived. They were detained and asked for identification regarding the trespassing.

Acar reportedly gave officers information about her sister, while Johnson gave his own information, and her real identity was only discovered after a subsequent investigation.

After requesting and receiving permission to search the vehicle, ACSO officers, with assistance from Ritzville Police, found a purse near where Acar was sitting that contained a bank card belonging to another person. Officers retained the card for safekeeping. Acar claimed the card belonged to the woman she purchased the vehicle from.

Investigators discovered that Johnson was under suspicion from the Washington State Department of Corrections because of his recent burglary conviction. Johnson also admitted to being stopped by Moses Lake police the night before and receiving a citation for driving without a license.

When officers contacted the property owner where Johnson and Acar were found, he decided to report them for trespassing. An employee at the farm also reported that a toolbox was missing, which Johnson later admitted he had picked up and placed in the couple’s vehicle.

The couple’s vehicle was seized and a search warrant was obtained for a more thorough search. Johnson was arrested and released, while Acar was arrested and detained.
