Chase suspect arrested in Franklin County over the weekend.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect in a chase over the weekend. The pursuit began around 10 p.m. Saturday night when the Sheriff’s Office was alerted to look for a Dodge Charger heading south from Minden at a high rate of speed. Sheriff Bryon Detelefsen says a deputy spotted the vehicle about 15 minutes later. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, and a chase ensued.

The suspect vehicle was able to temporarily elude officers, but was later located and the driver taken into custody. He was identified as 24-year-old Austin Arens of Pender, Nebraska, driving a 2020 Dodge Charger. Arens was booked into the Franklin County Jail and has since been released on bail. The Franklin County District Attorney is preparing charges.
