2 dead after motorcycle accident on SR-48

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Two people were killed in an accident Saturday evening.

The Dayton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred around 9 p.m. on N. Main Street (SR-48) at Philadelphia Drive. The crash involved a motorcycle and an SUV.


Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2011 Buick Enclave was turning left from northbound SR-48 onto Philadelphia Drive when the vehicle was struck by a 2017 Polaris Slingshot traveling southbound.

Motorcyclist Shawn Norman (58) and his passenger Clarence Weatherby (67) were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the SUV was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Harrison Township Fire Department responded to the scene.

According to OSP, the investigation is ongoing and any charges related to the incident will be decided once the investigation is complete.
