4 people were arrested at stores in the county that were selling illegal e-cigarettes

Suffolk police said they arrested four people over the weekend for allegedly selling illegally flavored e-cigarettes.

Investigators said they found boxes containing 12,000 illegal e-cigarettes being sold at the Cloud Nine Smoke Shop in Islip Terrace. According to police, an employee at this location was arrested after selling one of them to an underage police trainee on Saturday evening.

Two other smoke shop employees were also arrested on Saturday. Police say they seized illegal e-cigarettes from Gary’s Smoke Shop in Miller Place and Evolve Smoke Shop in East Setauket.

According to investigators, another 10,000 illegal e-cigarettes were stolen from the FMS Smoke Shop in Melville on Friday evening. The police arrested the owner of this business.

All of the arrests were part of Operation Smoke Out, which Suffolk Police launched in response to community complaints.
