A 17-year-old boy riding a scooter was fatally struck in a hit-and-run collision in Long Beach on Sunday, May 12. According to police, a suspect was arrested after crashing into a garage.

The teen was traveling north on South Street when he was struck by a 2012 Cadillac SRX traveling north on Orange Avenue around 12:40 a.m., Long Beach police said in a news release. The victim was taken to hospital and later died from his injuries.

Police believe the driver’s speed and impaired driving contributed to the fatal accident. They didn’t say how fast the car was going.
