Dana Air has said it has terminated the employment of some employees as part of an audit by the country’s regulators.

Kingsley Ezenwa, Head of Corporate Communications of the airline, released a statement on Saturday, May 11, 2024 to confirm the development.

Ezenwa said:

“In light of the ongoing audit, Dana Air has decided to temporarily lay off some employees pending the completion of the audit.

“This decision was made to ensure efficient resource management and enable a thorough review of operations.”

According to Premium Times, Dana Air reiterated in the statement its commitment to fully cooperate with the authorities to ensure a smooth and rapid resolution of the review process.

The airline also expressed its commitment to keeping its employees informed and supported during this difficult time.

Additionally, it was mentioned that discussions have begun with landlords and stakeholders on the progress made so far.

The decision came less than 48 hours after a Dana Air aircraft (MD82 with registration 5SN-BKI) suffered runway interference while landing on the domestic wing of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos from Abuja.

The Nation reports that before suspending both its ATL and AOC, the NCAA grounded all aircraft in the airline’s fleet to allow for a comprehensive review of its operations.

Three private jets suspended by NCAA

In related news, Legit.ng reported that the NCAA had suspended the permission of three private aircraft operators to operate for commercial purposes.

This was recorded in a riot act signed by Captain Chris Najomo, the acting general manager, and posted on the NCAA website on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

Najomo revealed that the affected jet operators were suspended for conducting commercial flight operations despite multiple warnings.
