Several airlines have canceled or delayed flights to Beirut’s Rafik Hariri airport, citing insurance risks amid rising tensions between Israel and Hezbollah. The disruptions came after a rocket attack on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights killed 12 people and heightened fears of a wider conflict.

Lebanese carrier Middle East Airlines (MEA) reported similar disruptions due to the distribution of insurance risks. The situation prompted Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines and other airlines to suspend their flights to Beirut. MEA postponed night flights and announced further delays for flights departing on Monday.

The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has escalated since the recent war in Gaza, leading to increased cross-border exchanges of fire. This has also affected air and sea traffic in the region. Lufthansa had previously suspended night flights in July due to developments in the Middle East.
