One dead, one injured in motorcycle crash in Pembina County – Grand Forks Herald

GRAND FORKS – A motorcyclist faces life-threatening injuries after colliding with a deer Friday night. His passenger died in the accident.

This is according to a report released by the North Dakota Highway Patrol on Saturday afternoon.

The 43-year-old man from Cavalier, ND, was traveling north on County Road 4 in Pembina County, a quarter mile south of County Road 1, when he struck a deer in the road around 11 p.m.

His passenger, a 43-year-old woman from Hamilton, North Dakota, was thrown from the vehicle and died of her injuries at the scene.

The motorcycle continued into the ditch east of the road and trapped its driver underneath.

The man was taken to Pembina County Memorial Hospital for treatment. Neither the driver nor the passenger were wearing helmets. The driver faces charges of driving without a license and driving without liability insurance.

The Highway Patrol, Pembina County Sheriff’s Department, U.S. Border Patrol, Pembina County Fire Department and Pembina County Ambulance Service responded to the emergency call.
