“Whose blood is that?” Palm Bay police release 911 call from teenager accused of killing his mother and her boyfriend

PALM BAY, Florida. – Palm Bay police released a 911 call Wednesday from a 16-year-old girl accused of killing her mother and her mother’s boyfriend.

16-year-old Julia Grace Egler is charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Due to the circumstances of the case, News 6 is naming Egler.

According to Palm Bay police, Egler called 911 and claimed a man had broken into the home. When police arrived, they found the girl’s mother, Kelley McCollom, 38, and the mother’s boyfriend, Matthew Szejnrok, 22, dead inside the home, officials said.

In the 911 call, Egler told the dispatcher that a man had broken into the house and that she was hiding in her room with her two dogs. She said her mother and her mother’s boyfriend were out shopping during the break-in.

“Do you still have your dogs with you?” asks the dispatcher.

“They’re still in my room. I didn’t let them out because I didn’t want their paws to be covered in blood,” Egler replies about seven minutes into the conversation.

“Wait, did you say there was blood all over your paws? Is there blood in your house?” asks the dispatcher. “…Whose blood is that?”

Later, the dispatcher asked, “Do you know if anyone is injured in your house?”

The girl cries before apparently saying, “They’re dead.”

Palm Bay police said Egler shot her mother before shooting the mother’s boyfriend and stabbing him multiple times. Police said Egler told officers she was angry with her mother for not accepting her gender reassignment. Police added Egler also did not like her mother dating Szejnrok, who was 16 years younger than her mother.

According to an affidavit, Egler told police that she took a revolver from her mother’s room and waited for the two to come home.

“As they walked through the front door, she told them, ‘Welcome home,'” the report said, before shooting them.

Egler was arrested and taken to a juvenile detention center.
