Mostly sunny and hot tonight with temperatures of 35-39 degrees…yuck! Overnight it will be partly cloudy with a slight chance of an isolated thunderstorm early Wednesday morning, lows between 18 and 21 degrees. Partly sunny with a slight chance of an isolated thunderstorm with lightning and very little to no rain. Highs tomorrow 38-39 degrees.

The ridge axis is directly east of us, with the center of the ridge anchored over the Four Corners region. An upper-level disturbance will undermine the ridge overnight into Wednesday. This disturbance will be strong enough to produce a few isolated thunderstorms Wednesday morning into the afternoon. These will likely be upper-elevation storms producing lightning and little to no rain. Lightning strikes could spark new wildfires and then be fueled by gusty 30-40 mph downdrafts. The dry thunderstorms will increase our fire danger through Wednesday evening.

The heat continues… High pressure is holding, no rain, and highs are in the triple digits. Models show another small disturbance creeping through the ridge on Sunday, causing isolated showers/thunderstorms in the mountains. An upper level low will form over Queen Charlotte Island on Tuesday and Wednesday. This should result in a low pressure area over the Pacific Northwest with fresh winds and slightly cooler temperatures with highs in the 35-40s.
