Willoughby, Ohio murder suspect arrested on Indiana Toll Road in LaPorte County – NBC Chicago

A suspect wanted in the murder of a 17-year-old in Ohio was arrested while driving on the Indiana Toll Road in northwest Indiana, authorities said.

Indiana State Police officers received information Saturday that the suspect in the murder of a 17-year-old might be traveling on the Indiana Toll Road and passed the information on to patrol officers, according to a state police news release.

Around 10 a.m., a trooper spotted a gray Toyota matching the description and stopped the vehicle as backup arrived, authorities said. The driver, a 22-year-old man from Painesville, Ohio, was arrested and taken to the LaPorte County Jail.

The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, was wanted in connection with the death of a 17-year-old boy in the Cleveland suburb of Willoughby. WKYC, the NBC affiliate in Cleveland, reported the teenager was shot in an alley around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

A witness told police he heard a gunshot from across the street and saw a victim lying on the ground while a man allegedly ran west from the scene. The circumstances of the shooting remained unclear late Sunday.
