Multi-agency response to serious accident on Route 9 in Chsterfield

CHESTERFIELD – Chesterfield police say a serious car crash on Route 9 early Saturday morning left three passengers seriously injured.

At approximately 7:47 a.m., emergency services, including Chesterfield Police, New Hampshire State Police and various fire departments, were called to the scene of an accident near Thomas Construction where a silver Jeep Grand Wagoneer had left the road.

The vehicle, containing Timothy McManus, 36, and Zuleyka McManus, 37, both of Newbury, NH, and a male juvenile, was discovered approximately 150 yards into the woods.

Rescue workers freed two people trapped in the vehicle.

All three occupants were taken to Cheshire Medical Center with serious injuries.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling eastbound when it inexplicably left the roadway and struck a sign.

It then flew about 14.5 meters through the air and came to rest in a stream in the forest.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident.

Chesterfield Police are asking any witnesses to come forward and contact Acting Police Chief Lance Rouse at (603) 363-4233 extension 62 or via email at (email protected).
