Missing Matthews woman found dead in Ballantyne

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The 18-year-old Matthews woman who was reported missing Wednesday was found dead in a movie theater parking lot in Ballantyne, according to police.

At approximately 1 p.m., officers responded to the 7800 block of Rea Road, near Regal Stonecrest in Piper Glen, for a report of a deceased female. Police identified the woman as Olivia Bruce.

Bruce was last seen on Tuesday, May 7, leaving Providence High School in a gray 2017 Chevrolet Volt.

The police are investigating her death.
