A Lake Elsinore man is behind bars after allegedly attacking another man with a knife on Wednesday night.

Michael Losoya, 41, was identified as the assailant in a reported robbery in the 32000 block of Riverside Drive, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

The victim, identified only as a man, suffered head injuries around 10:45 p.m. that evening, authorities said.

After the attack was reported, Losoya was found “a short distance away” and arrested on charges of attempted murder and resisting state authority.

The victim has since been medically examined but refused further treatment.

Losoya’s bail was set at $1 million and he is being held at the Cois Byrd Detention Center, the Sheriff’s Department said, but jail records indicate he is being held at the Southwest Detention Center.

In addition, jail records show two additional charges – child neglect and willful endangerment of a child – that increase his bail by $20,000, bringing the total to $1.02 million.

He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday at the Murrieta Southwest Justice Center.
