Karnataka state-owned bus loses spare wheel on journey, serious accident goes unnoticed. Watch | Bengaluru

The accident could have been fatal, but the driver’s alertness prevented a serious accident on a busy road in Karnataka. A video that went viral on social media shows a state-run bus losing a spare tire while moving, endangering following vehicles.

In a dashboard camera video shared by Prateek Singh on X, the entire incident was recorded and the car behind was said to be traveling at 40-50 kmph. Prateek received the video from one of his followers and wrote, “I am sharing a video of today’s (July 3, 2024) incident from my car, Alcazar Dashcam. In the video, you can see the spare wheel of the Karnataka government. A bus falls on the road, creating a possible accident situation. I was driving behind the bus at 40-50 kmph and with my presence of mind I was able to swerve the steering wheel and avoid the accident.”

The vehicles behind me were also alert and ignored the spare wheel lying on the road. “The Innova vehicle behind me almost hit the wheel but managed to avoid a collision. I honked and chased the bus to stop it and inform it that the spare wheel was lying on the road,” Prateek added in his X-post.

Meanwhile, the KSRTC has confirmed the incident and said appropriate action will be taken. One user wrote in the comments: “Leave enough space to stop without colliding if the vehicle ahead stops without using its own braking distance – for example, by hitting a wall or the rear of a stationary truck.”
