Fundraising campaign launched for the family of the deceased Stratford police officer

STRATFORD, Connecticut (WTNH) – Shelton Police have organized a fundraiser for the family of a deceased Stratford police officer.

According to the Stratford Police Department, 56-year-old Officer Kenneth Kubel died on June 19 from complications of a sudden heart attack.


Kubel served with the Bridgeport Police Department from 1990 to 2015, retiring as a sergeant. He served an additional nine years as a patrol officer with the Stratford Police Department from 2015 to 2024.

His four children and colleagues praised his attitude of putting family first and admired him greatly.

The police are selling commemorative T-shirts with his name and uniform number.

The shirts can be purchased through July 15th on Venmo to “OFC. Kubel Fundraiser” @KennyK225. The Venmo subject field should include your name, size, order quantity, and phone number.

All proceeds will go to the Kubel family, the organizers said.
