Dependents quota: Police sub-inspector suspended for delay in processing files on dependants quota | News from Varanasi

Varanasi: A Sub-Inspector of Police was suspended and administrative action was ordered against him on Wednesday for not forwarding the files to the concerned office and delaying the processing. The SI, who had himself got a job under the dependent quota after the death of his father, left about nine others to take advantage of the quota and ran from pillar to post to get their files forwarded to the concerned authorities. After this fact came to light, Superintendent of Police Mohit Agrawal suspended SI (Clerk) Rajkishore and warned the staff that if any delay in processing of files of police welfare, pension, medical insurance, travel or transfer allowances is found, strict action would be taken against the officer and staff in charge. Rajkishore came into the spotlight when the widow of deceased police officer Hemant Kumar appeared before the CP with an application claiming that her file of recruitment under dependent quota was lying with Rajkishore for the past six months and she was running from pillar to post to get the file forwarded to the concerned office. Taking her complaint seriously, the CP personally examined the file and found that all necessary formalities were completed in December 2023 and the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) had also signed a letter of recommendation but the file had not been forwarded to the Lucknow Police Headquarters for further action. This led to an investigation into Rajkishore which revealed that he had kept nine files of recruitment of persons under quota and was delaying the processing of these files for months despite completing all necessary formalities. On further investigation, it was found that Rajkishore himself had been recruited into the police department under dependent quota. After his suspension, the police chief also ordered disciplinary action against him.
