Indianapolis man arrested in Fishers after robbing Taco Bell and fleeing police

FISHERS – Fishers police arrested an Indianapolis man early Sunday morning after he robbed a Taco Bell, fled from police and fired his weapon.

According to police, officers were called shortly after 1:30 a.m. to a robbery and car theft at the Taco Bell on Allisonville Road.

Police learned that several men came through the drive-in window with guns drawn and demanded money.

One of the suspects fled in a blue Dodge Challenger belonging to one of the victims.

Officers were able to locate the stolen Dodge Challenger traveling south on Allisonville Road and initiated a traffic stop.

A chase then began south on Allisonville into Marion County.

The driver of the vehicle, a 24-year-old from Indianapolis, got out of the car and fled on foot.

Several officers, including a dog squad, pursued the suspect.

During the foot pursuit, officers heard a gunshot. The sniffer dog was in front of the sniffer dog when the shot was fired. Neither the officers nor the sniffer dog were injured.

Officers were able to apprehend the suspect using a sniffer dog. He was given a medical examination before being taken to the Hamilton County Jail.

The suspect had evidence belonging to the victims at Taco Bell. A handgun was also found near where he was arrested. The weapon was a Glock with a machine gun conversion device attached.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to robbery, car theft and firing a shot. He faces 12 preliminary charges, including:

  • robbery
  • intimidation
  • Bodily harm resulting in bodily harm
  • theft
  • Car theft
  • Pointing a firearm at another person
  • Criminal deprivation of liberty despite possession of a deadly weapon
  • Resistance to prosecution
  • Resisting law enforcement with a vehicle
  • Criminal recklessness involving the use of a deadly weapon
  • Kidnapping with a deadly weapon
  • Possession of a machine gun
