4 dead, 9 injured after minivan collides with nail salon in Deer Park

Four people were killed and at least nine others were injured when a minivan crashed into a nail salon on Long Island on Friday afternoon.

Suffolk County Fire Department officials said the vehicle drove through Hawaii Nail & Spa on Grand Boulevard in Deer Park around 4:30 p.m., but immediately released a statement about what caused the “major accident.”

According to CBS News, the vehicle sped into the salon and only stopped when it reached the back of the store.

All four dead were in the salon at the time of the accident and were pronounced dead at the scene, said Deer Park Fire Department Deputy Chief Dominic Albanese at a press conference in the evening.

Nine other victims were taken to local hospitals, and one of the victims was flown out by rescue helicopter, Albanese said.

The driver of the minivan was among the injured and was partially conscious when taken to a nearby hospital, according to ABC 7.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
