Two men arrested after shooting two women at a party in the Churchville area

CHURCHVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Augusta County Sheriff has two men in custody who shot two teenagers during a party altercation in the Churchville area Saturday night. The Sheriff’s Office received the call around 10:30 p.m. and arrived to find two women, a 19-year-old and a 17-year-old, shot in the legs at a location on the corner of Buffalo Gap Highway and Churchville Avenue. The suspects then reportedly fled in a black Ford Mustang.

Officers collected evidence that led them to 21-year-old Isaiah J. Cassell of Mount Solon and 20-year-old Matthew T. Cassell of West Augusta Road. Isaiah Cassell was arrested in the 1100 block of Mount Solon Road and Matthew Cassell was arrested several hours later in the 600 block of Sibling Springs Road. Isaiah Cassell is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of attempted assault and three counts of possession of a firearm. Matthew Cassell is charged with two counts of aiding and abetting aggravated assault, three counts of possession of a firearm and three counts of violating bail conditions. Additional charges are pending.
