NANAIMO – A Nanaimo man is facing serious charges after Alberta police accused him of luring and sexually assaulting a teenager in Airdrie, Alberta.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) of Airdrie began investigating on June 12 after a report of a sexual assault on a juvenile. Police said the juvenile was lured through social media as part of the investigation prior to the alleged assault.

Callum Tanner Stewart, 29, of Nanaimo, faces charges of child enticement, sexual assault and failure to comply with a release order.

He is currently in custody and will appear before a judge in Calgary on Monday, June 24.
