Record heat Thursday followed by a cool front Friday for the Jacksonville area – Action News Jax

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The First Alert Weather Team said the focus is shifting from heat to storms Thursday as storms move in from the north late in the day. Some could be severe to severe, particularly in southeast Georgia.

Further storms are expected across the board on Friday. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Another hot day Thursday with near-record highs in the mid-90s. Even the beaches can tolerate temperatures around 30 degrees.
  • A few late day and evening storms will occur primarily in southeast Georgia, with only an isolated shower/storm possible in Jacksonville/Northeast Florida.
  • Better chances of rain on Friday as a cool front moves in. Some neighborhoods may receive more than half an inch of much-needed rain, but other areas will receive less than half an inch.
  • The weekend looks very nice – cooler and less humid.
  • Next week could potentially be wet – good news for our parched lawns.
