Charming Texas star and former 1017 rapper dies at 26

Enchanting, the Texas The rapper, who signed to Gucci Mane’s label 1017 in 2020 before leaving last year, has died at the age of 26.

“So sad to say rest in peace to such a great young lady, a true star, we will all miss you Chant,” Gucci wrote in a social media post on Tuesday. The cause of death was not immediately announced.

Enchanting, whose real name is Channing Nicole Larry, signed to 1017 Records in 2020 and left the company after the release of 2022 No love and its deluxe version, Love scarred / No lovethe following year.

Coi Leray, who collaborated with the rapper on her track “Freaky Deaky,” also shared a tribute to Enchanting, writing in Instagram stories, “Breaking my heart praying for Enchanting’s friends and family. RIP.” In a second post, Leray added, “Check on your strong friends. You just never know what someone is going through. Shit deep beneath the surface.”

In 2023, Enchanting appeared on the soundtrack for RAP SHIT, Issa Rae’s television series on Max, alongside a number of established rap stars like Kaliii and Sexyy Red, as well as up-and-coming underground acts like Cleotrapa and NCognita. Enchanting appeared with Maiya the Don on “He Can’t Reach,” collaborated with Omeretta the Great on the striking track “Want No Beef,” and featured Atlanta rapper Kaliii on “Run It Up.”

“Staying in the studio and constantly recording helps me find the style I’m good at,” Enchanting previously said in a statement posted on her 1017 Records profile. “It’s like trap-n-blues,” she wrote when describing her musical style. “Other people can relate to the things I say. I can help someone in any situation, they can listen to me and find peace.”
