Two suspicious fires that occurred within days of each other in Claremont are under investigation, authorities said. The Claremont Fire Department said they were called to the area of ​​Spring and Maynard streets at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to investigate outdoor smoke. When they arrived, a small brush fire was burning at the top of a hill, authorities said. The fire was quickly extinguished. Two suspicious fires that occurred within a few days in Claremont are currently under investigation, authorities said.

The Claremont Fire Department said it was called to the area of ​​Spring and Maynard Streets at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to investigate outdoor smoke.

When they arrived, a small brush fire was burning on a hillside, authorities said. The fire was quickly extinguished. It is considered suspicious.

They were called to a reported barn fire on Hanover Street around 11:10 a.m. Thursday, authorities said. When they arrived, they found smoke coming from a barn behind a home.

Wood from the building caught fire on the side of the barn, authorities said. The fire was quickly extinguished and the homeowner was the first to notice smoke coming from the barn, authorities said. The fire is being treated as suspicious.

Both fires are being investigated by the Claremont Police and Fire Department.
