Strong to severe storms are possible overnight

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – First alert weather day for tonight, tomorrow evening and early Thursday. Expect several showers and strong to severe thunderstorms with all types of severe weather.

A tornado warning is in effect until 2 a.m. for counties in southern Kentucky. Counties in the WSMV4 area include Allen, Christian, Clinton, Cumberland, Logan, Monroe, Simpson, Todd and Trigg counties.

UNTIL THE MORNING:

A First alert weather day is in effect overnight and as of now, a more organized group of strong to severe storms should move from the northwest into our southwestern Kentucky counties. The storms were expected to reach Clarksville at 10:30 p.m. Around midnight they move on to Nashville. From there, the storms will move southeast, eventually reaching the Tennessee/Alabama border by sunrise Wednesday. All types of storms are possible. The morning low will be around 70.

WEDNESDAY & WEDNESDAY NIGHT:

A First alert weather day valid from Wednesday to Thursday morning. A few showers and possibly strong to severe storms could develop tomorrow through midday, moving back north. The initial threat window for severe weather is Wednesday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. The high will be in the mid 80s.

After a brief respite, a more organized, stronger group of strong to severe storms will reenter the area from the northwest on Wednesday evening. This storm episode represents the highest probability of severe weather during this multi-day period. Storms could reach southwest Kentucky as early as early evening. People in the Nashville area should be prepared for severe storms around 9 p.m. Several waves of storms are likely to develop during the night as everything slides to the southeast. A few strong storms could continue over extreme southeastern Middle Tennessee shortly after sunrise Thursday. All types of severe weather are possible, from flooding, damaging winds, hail to isolated tornadoes.

THURSDAY FRIDAY:

Strong storms will move in from southeast Middle Tennessee early Thursday. It will gradually become drier as the afternoon progresses. Highs will be in the lower 80s.

Friday could bring a brief shower or shower. Otherwise it will be partly cloudy, cooler and drier, with maximum temperatures up to 70 degrees. Chance of rain: 20%.

THIS WEEKEND:

This weekend will be pleasant overall, with less heat and humidity than currently.

There will be another brief shower or two on Saturday, but most of the day looks pleasant. Chance of rain: 20%. The maximum value is not reached until the mid-70s.

NEXT WEEK:

Partly cloudy conditions are expected Monday through Tuesday of next week with high temperatures in the low 80s.
