Man in Maine dead after collision with semi-trailer

A man is dead after being struck by a tractor-trailer on the Maine Turnpike in Kittery Saturday morning, according to state police. KITTERY, Maine —

A man died after being struck by a tractor-trailer on the Maine Turnpike in Kittery Saturday morning, state police said.

Maine State Police said 36-year-old Chhoeunly Phoeung of Massachusetts was traveling south on the Maine Turnpike after 3 a.m. when he left the road and struck several objects at the entrance to the State Police weigh station in Kittery.

After the accident, he ran into the main road on the Maine Turnpike and was hit by a semi-trailer, state police said.

He was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The state police are investigating.
