1 dead and 1 injured in shooting in Austin

One man was killed and another injured in a shooting in Austin on Thursday evening.

The men, ages 58 and 40, were in the area of ​​5100 West Maypole Avenue around 5:40 p.m. when someone approached them and fired shots, Chicago police said.

The elderly man suffered numerous gunshot wounds to his body and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The other man was found in good condition at the same hospital with a gunshot wound to the back.

The investigation is ongoing, but no one is in custody.
