Suspended sentence for Woodley bank card thief

Maria Kastrouni, 42, of South Lake Crescent, Woodley, stole a handbag in Wargrave on June 29 last year.

She then attempted to buy £211 worth of groceries using cards from the wallet.

Kastrouni pleaded guilty to theft by detection and fraud by false representation at Reading Magistrates Court on February 15 this year.

The judges sentenced her to a two-week suspended sentence, which was suspended for a period of twelve months.

She is expected to undergo rehabilitation for up to 25 days.

She was also ordered to pay compensation of £211.
