JLR to cease production at UK manufacturing facilities starting next week

(Reuters) – Luxury car maker Jaguar Land Rover announced late Thursday that it would temporarily halt production at its UK manufacturing facilities from next week to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

The automaker said it intends to resume production at its plants in the week of April 20.

Jaguar Land Rover’s manufacturing facilities in Brazil and India are continuing operations, the company said in an emailed statement.

The Tata Motors-owned automaker announced on Wednesday that it would halt production at its Slovakian plant in Nitra from Friday due to the pandemic. In the UK, 3,269 people have been infected with the pandemic so far and 144 have died.
