Pedestrian killed on I-10 near Phoenix Sky Harbor

PHOENIX (AZFamily) – One person died after being hit on a Phoenix freeway late Friday night.

According to officials with the Department of Public Safety, the pedestrian was struck and killed by a motorist around 10 p.m. in the westbound lane of I-10 just west of University Drive, south of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

Although few details have been released, DPS believes the person may have been struck by other vehicles after the initial collision. It is unclear if any of the drivers were still at the scene.

The westbound lanes of the interstate were closed during the investigation but reopened around 5 a.m. Saturday.
