Verdict in the case of a Pittsburgh teacher accused of sexually harassing a student

PITTSBURGH, PA — A former Pittsburgh Public Schools elementary school teacher was acquitted Friday of charges that he repeatedly sexually assaulted a student in the classroom.

James Ziegler, 42, a former teacher at Faison K-5 School in the Point Breeze neighborhood, allegedly attacked a boy during detention at lunchtime.

Ziegler was charged last year on Friday with involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, sexual assault, unauthorized contact with a minor, sexual assault of minors in institutions, indecent contact, endangering the welfare of a child and seduction of a minor.
