BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man pleaded guilty Thursday to a charge of first-degree manslaughter in connection with a fatal shooting early last year on Kensington Avenue, the county attorney’s office announced of Erie.

Officials said Jerry L. Simpson, 30, shot Jermaine Underwood, 37, with an illegal weapon the morning of Jan. 5, 2023, in the 900 block of Kensington. Simpson was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Simpson also shot a second victim, a 31-year-old man, who was taken by ambulance to ECMC for treatment, officials said. The victim was then released from the hospital.

Simpson faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced July 8, and he remains held without bail.
