Police Week honors the service and sacrifice of America’s law enforcement agencies and particularly recognizes those who have lost their lives in the service of the safety and security of others. In 1962, US President John F. Kennedy declared May 15th National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15th falls National Police Week.
