Rapist jailed for decades-long campaign of violence against women, children and animals

A man who carried out a decades-long campaign of violence against women, children and animals has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Malcolm Leask, 35, raped two women and tried to murder one of his victims by holding her head under water.

The crimes, which included assaults on children and animal cruelty, occurred between 2008 and 2019 in Clackmannanshire and Orkney.

Leask denied all allegations but was convicted and sentenced at Stirling High Court in April Edinburgh On Wednesday.

Detective Inspector Gordon Patullo said: “Malcolm Leask’s behavior was appalling.”

“He caused pain and misery to his victims, but he will now face the consequences of his actions.”

The officer thanked everyone who came forward with information that led to Leask’s conviction.

DI Patullo added: “I hope that this conviction and sentence sends a clear message that all reports of sexual abuse, regardless of timing, will be thoroughly investigated by police.” Scotland and victims are supported throughout.

“I would like to thank the investigation team and our partners for their hard work on this case.”
