Conor Benn suspended again as UKAD and BBBofC release new statements

Conor Benn has suffered a major setback in his attempts to return to the ring after it was revealed he would be handed another interim ban.

Benn has been involved in a massive battle with both the British Anti-Doping Organization (UKAD) and the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) dating back to October 2022, when he received negative results in the lead-up to his scheduled fight with Chris Eubank a drug test revealed Jr.

“The Destroyer” maintained his innocence throughout and it even appeared that the problems might be resolved after the independent National Anti-Doping Panel overturned his ban, allowing him to fight twice in the United States in the last six months.

However, Benn is once again unable to compete after UKAD and BBBofC won an appeal against the ruling, UKAD said in a new statement.

“UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) can today confirm that Mr Benn will again be subject to an interim suspension under the UK Anti-Doping Rules from 7 May 2024.

“During his interim suspension, Mr Benn is prohibited from participating in any capacity (or supporting any other athlete in any capacity) in any competition, event or activity organized by the British Boxing Board of Control or any other world body , approved or recognized -Doping Code compliant sport.

“UKAD and the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) were successful in their respective appeals against a decision by an arbitral tribunal of the independent National Anti-Doping Panel in July 2023. Mr Benn’s interim suspension was reinstated by the Court of Appeal following successful appeals.

“Mr Benn’s case remains before the Independent National Anti-Doping Panel and the case will now be pursued in accordance with the UK Anti-Doping Rules. UKAD is not in a position to provide further public information at this time.”
