A local family is remembering a couple who died in a devastating wrong-way accident on Sunday evening. This accident killed a beloved teacher and her husband. At 52, high school sweethearts Patrick and Nicole Pelton were living the lives of their own dreams. Family members say they were incredibly kind and intelligent – and when they weren’t at work or with loved ones, they went on incredible trips. “We’re a small family now, we’re even smaller,” said mother-in-law Linda Pelton. A driver drove the wrong way on a busy stretch of Cox Road in West Chester, leaving two empty spaces in the tight spot. “They were both just loving, caring people,” Linda said. The loss left her loved ones and an entire community heartbroken – Nicole was a teacher at Ross Middle School for 22 years. Patrick was a software engineer. The couple was known for their kindness and generosity. To Nicole, her students were like family.” “Her students meant a lot to her,” said sister-in-law Denise Pelton. “They were all her children. And their vision was, above all, to get girls excited about STEM and science.”Denise decided the best way to remember the couple was to give back – she set up a GoFundMe. All donations go to Ross Middle “We just wanted to further Nikki’s vision and do this for Nikki and her students,” Denise said. It’s a fitting way to honor two people who cared so much for others. “I know, Pat, Nick, they’re just up there, just smiling, smiling down here. And they’re just so happy,” Denise said. “They were both just loving, caring people,” Linda said.

The loss left her loved ones and an entire community heartbroken – Nicole was a teacher at Ross Middle School for 22 years.

Patrick was a software developer.

The couple was known for their kindness and generosity.

To Nicole, her students were like family.

“Her students meant a lot to her,” said sister-in-law Denise Pelton. “They were all her children. And her vision was, above all, to get girls excited about STEM and science.”

Denise decided the best way to remember the couple was to give back – she started a GoFundMe.

“We just wanted to advance Nikki’s vision and do this for Nikki and her students,” Denise said.
