The investigation begins after a fight broke out between about 50 teenagers in Golden Valley Park

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Updated at 3:57 p.m: The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office says it is investigating a fight between about 50 teenagers in which a gun was fired into the ground.

According to WCSO, the fight broke out around 11:30 a.m. in Golden Valley Park.

They say no one was injured and there have been no arrests at this time.

The Regional Gang Unit is assisting in the investigation and WCSO says there is no threat to the community at this time.

No details were immediately released about the nature of the off-campus incident, but the Code Red was lifted shortly before 1 p.m. According to WCSD, the school has now resumed regular operations and classes will close at normal times.

In a message to parents, Principal Tomas Macaluso said school police were on site at the school and were investigating, but all students and staff were safe.

We ask that you do not attend school as all students are safe.

For security reasons, school police will remain on campus.
