I-41/US-45 backups on May 10, 2024

GERMANTOWN, Wis.An accident on I-41/US-45 southbound at the Washington County/Waukesha County line caused significant traffic congestion Friday morning, May 10th.

Traffic was backed up for several hours, but as of 11:30 a.m. traffic was flowing normally.

According to the Germantown Fire Department, a tractor-trailer and at least one other vehicle were involved in a crash on the southbound portion of the highway north of County Line Road (County Q).

A large amount of diesel fuel was spilled across the highway when one of the semi-truck’s tanks ruptured.

Due to the fuel spill, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) was notified. North Shore Environmental was contacted to assist with cleanup of the roadway and median.
