Pedestrian killed, man arrested in suspected hit-and-run accident in San Jacinto

A pedestrian was struck and killed in San Jacinto by a vehicle whose suspected driver was later arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run, authorities said Sunday.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, officers responded to State Street south of Esplanade Avenue around 5:10 p.m. on Saturday after a serious accident involving a pedestrian and injuries was reported.

They found the pedestrian on the side of the road with serious injuries and provided medical aid until the Hemet Fire Department arrived and began life-saving measures.
