Teenager from Oneonta dies in car accident

An Oneonta teenager has died nearly a week after suffering serious injuries in a car crash in Blount County.

The accident occurred on Saturday, July 20, around 7 a.m. The 18-year-old was critically injured when his 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe 1500 went off the road, hit a tree and overturned.

According to ALEA senior Vu Quang, the teenager was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment but later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on July 26. The teenager’s name has not been released.

The accident occurred on Blount County 1, about a mile south of Oneonta in Blount County.

No further information is available as officers from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue their investigation.
