Spain’s antitrust authority launches investigation into Apple’s App Store

Madrid: The Spanish antitrust authority announced on Wednesday that it had opened an investigation into possible anti-competitive behavior by Apple’s App Store.

The CNMC, as the regulator is known, said Apple may have engaged in anti-competitive practices by imposing unequal commercial conditions on developers of mobile applications sold in its App Store.

The practices could be considered a serious violation of competition law and therefore punishable by a fine of up to ten percent of the company’s global turnover, CNMC said in a statement.
