Israel’s war against Gaza live: Israel bombs UN school and two refugee camps in Gaza | News on the Israel-Palestine conflict

World football’s governing body FIFA has postponed its decision to ban the Israel Football Association (IFA) from international competitions until after the Paris Olympics after the Palestinian Football Association (PFA) and the IFA asked for more time.

FIFA said in a post on X that an “independent legal assessment” of the PFA’s case against the IFA must be submitted to its council by July 20.

“After both parties requested an extension to submit their respective positions and this was duly granted by FIFA, more time is required to complete this process with due diligence and completeness,” FIFA said.

The PFA had previously questioned Israel’s participation in events organized by FIFA and called for Israel’s exclusion from the world football association because of Israel’s war against Gaza and its occupation of the Palestinian territories.

The issue of Israel’s suspension was discussed at FIFA’s Annual Congress in Bangkok in May, where it was decided that a special session of the Council should be convened within two months to decide on Israel’s status.
